PREVAILING WAGE, UNIONS, ABC, SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION AND $10.56: AN INVESTIGATIVE REPORT (03/06/2008)
The Battle Creek Enquirer published an investigative report on Thursday, February 27th, exposing union tactics in their desperate attempts to discredit merit shop firms and gain union market share through exploiting the state prevailing wage act. The special report is aptly titled: Prevailing politics: Conflict leaves paper trail in high school’s construction.

Battle Creek is the largest city in Calhoun County. The unions have been pushing a new purchasing policy to require union only PLA’s and prevailing wage expansion for all Calhoun County construction projects. ABC of Michigan and the Western Michigan Chapter have been working diligently to squash the PLA and any expanded prevailing wage proposal. We have also met with the editors of the Enquirer to discuss PLA’s. On Sunday, March 2nd, the Enquirer ran a sequel story to further cover the lengths to which unions will go to harass contractors, schools and waste taxpayer money in defense of Prevailing Wage laws.

By clicking on the following links, the newspaper examines ABC member company Buist Electric and the nightmare that the IBEW created for a local school district and the exorbitant expense taxpayers footed for state investigators.
