Over 130 attendees got a view of the next big technological change in the way projects are constructed and how teams will be formed to make it happen. Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) systems led primarily by BIM (Building Information Modeling) will revolutionize the process and practice of construction for the foreseeable future. The ¾ day program gave ABC and ASA members an intensive look at the “state of the art” and issues for the future that BIM will create for progressive, early adopters of the technology.
Clearly, BIM and related products will require a thorough understanding of the process to collaborate, design, construct and commission projects in the future. Software, hardware and employee training questions were discussed. Two panels, one of design professionals and the other with GC/CM’s, specialty subcontractors and suppliers, described their current efforts to position themselves for a competitive advantage using the benefits of BIM. Keynoter Mike Neville of GHAFARI Associates described how BIM has impacted the work of this ENR TOP TEN Design Professional firm. It has given his company an edge worldwide to retain and attract clients and significantly improve their profit picture.

We will soon have DVD’s of the program available. The DVD’s will be available to BIM Boot Camp registrants for no cost. They will be available to others for $25. Companies should have all of their employees view at least Mike Neville’s presentation.
