Construction Workforce Development Alliance

The Construction Workforce Development Alliance of West Michigan (CWDA)

The CWDA was established by the Associated Builders and Contractors Western Michigan Chapter (ABC/WMC), American Subcontractors Association of Michigan (ASAM), and the Home Builders Association of Greater Grand Rapids (HBAGGR). The goal of the CWDA is to redefine the image of the construction industry and to promote career opportunities within the industry. The CWDA aims to accomplish in part by maintaining an online resource for the West Michigan construction industry – www.webuildmi.com. This website offers construction career exploration and connections to educational programs available to those interested in construction.

The CWDA's goal is to rebrand the construction industry as a worthwhile and compelling option for those who are not pursuing a traditional four-year degree or those looking for alternative field of work. CWDA aims to accomplish this through a two-pronged approach. The first is developing an online resource for the West Michigan construction industry. This website will offer general industry centered information, opportunities for employment and information about educational programs available to those interested in construction.

The Rally

The Construction Workforce Development Alliance (CWDA) Rally gathers commercial and residential construction industry professionals to celebrate the industry and raise funds to inspire and attract young people to the construction industry. Thanks to the many industry companies and individuals competing in the Rally, the CWDA has raised over $70,000 to provide construction career awareness and readiness opportunities for students in our region. To become involved in the CWDA and hear more about The Rally: Please contact, Jen Schottke.
